Per Diem launches Group Ordering to simplify shared restaurant orders

Per Diem introduced Group Ordering for its Web Ordering product, giving cafés and restaurants an easier way to handle shared orders from offices, teams, and groups of friends or families. The new option lets one person start a group order, invite others, and send a single complete ticket to the restaurant instead of juggling separate orders.

On the Web Ordering page, customers see a clear option to start a group order. They can set an order deadline and a maximum spend limit per person, then add their own items and share a unique link with others. Anyone who receives the link can join from a browser, view the menu, and add their choices to the same cart, even if they do not use the mobile app.

Group Ordering reflects the way people already eat together. An office coordinator can start a lunch order in the morning, share the link in a chat, and let each person choose their own meal before the deadline. A family can plan a weekend pick-up and make sure everyone gets what they want without passing a phone around. The shared cart keeps all items in one place, applies the limits that were set, and closes automatically when the deadline arrives.

For restaurants, the feature is meant to fit into their current routine. A group order appears as one order in the Per Diem system and in the connected Square point of sale. Staff see a single ticket with a clear list of items instead of many separate orders that happen to arrive at the same time. This helps kitchens stay organized during rushes and makes packing and handoff more straightforward, while still allowing the business to capture larger checks from group meals.

Per Diem expects Group Ordering to be especially useful for merchants near offices, campuses, and shared workspaces, where lunch orders for ten or more people are common but often messy to manage. By giving customers one link and one cart, the feature aims to remove the back and forth that usually falls on whoever volunteers to place the order.

Per Diem works with cafés, bakeries, and restaurants that use Square POS to offer branded mobile and web ordering. The company focuses on helping local merchants offer a clear and simple way for guests to order ahead, earn rewards, and pay online.

Per Diem is a trusted mobile ordering partner for cafés and restaurants using Square point of sale.
