Per Diem launches its own loyalty engine for restaurants using Square

Per Diem Loyalty gives restaurants using Square greater control over how customers earn points, unlock rewards, and stay engaged across mobile apps, web ordering, and the point of sale.
For many restaurants, loyalty still follows a fixed formula: customers earn points, wait until they have enough, and redeem them for a discount. While this can encourage repeat visits, it gives merchants limited control over which customer behaviors they reward and how the program supports their wider business goals.
This month, Per Diem launched Per Diem Loyalty, its own customizable loyalty platform for restaurants, coffee shops, bakeries, and other food businesses using Square.
The platform allows merchants to build a loyalty program around their brand, customers, and growth goals. Restaurants can create their own points currency, choose how customers earn, set custom rewards, introduce loyalty tiers, and run targeted promotions from one connected system.
Loyalty built around each restaurant
Per Diem Loyalty gives merchants the flexibility to decide what loyalty should look like for their business.
Customers can earn based on how much they spend, how often they visit, which items they purchase, or which menu categories they explore. Restaurants can also control point rounding and expiration, create customized redemption rewards, and introduce tier-based programs for their most loyal customers.
A coffee shop could reward frequent morning visits. A bakery could offer additional points on a seasonal collection. A restaurant could encourage customers to try a new menu category, while a growing brand could use loyalty tiers to recognize its highest value guests.
Merchants can also keep their programs active with referrals, birthday rewards, points multipliers, visit streaks, monthly challenges, and interactive reward experiences such as Spin the Wheel, Pick a Box, and Scratch Card.
These tools give restaurants more ways to encourage meaningful customer actions without relying on the same discount for every guest.
One connected customer experience
Per Diem Loyalty works across a restaurant’s branded mobile app, web ordering experience, and supported point of sale transactions.
Customers do not need to download an app to participate. They can join through the restaurant’s registration experience and identify themselves at checkout using supported methods such as a phone number or QR code. Once identified, they can earn points and redeem available rewards during eligible transactions.
Merchants can view customer registrations, loyalty participation, purchasing activity, and available engagement data through the Per Diem dashboard. Because Per Diem owns and manages the loyalty engine, its team can also investigate point and reward issues directly, giving merchants greater visibility and control over the experience.
Loyalty can also work alongside Per Diem’s ordering and marketing products. Restaurants can reward an initial purchase, encourage another visit through push notifications, email, or SMS, and create new incentives as the customer relationship develops.
An easier path beyond basic loyalty
Restaurants currently using Square Loyalty can move their existing members and point balances to Per Diem Loyalty with support from the Per Diem team. The transition is designed to keep the experience familiar for customers while giving merchants access to more flexible earning rules, rewards, promotions, tiers, and reporting.
Per Diem Loyalty is available to eligible Per Diem merchants using Square. Restaurants can learn more on the Per Diem Loyalty page or book a demo to discuss their loyalty program.
