Best Coffee Shops in the Mission District to Visit During Carnaval SF 2025

Carnaval San Francisco brings the Mission District to life every May with a weekend of music, dance, community, and color. The streets fill with families, artists, performers, and visitors celebrating Latin American, Caribbean, and African Diasporic cultures. With the Grand Parade rolling down 24th Street and festival booths lining the neighborhood, it’s one of the most anticipated events in the city.

This year’s celebration takes place Saturday, May 24, and Sunday, May 25, 2025, from 11 AM to 6 PM each day. The Grand Parade starts on Sunday, May 25, at 11 AM, beginning at 24th and Bryant and winding through the Mission District. Whether you plan to show up early for a front-row view, join a dance contingent, or simply explore the street fair, having a good coffee nearby is a must.

The Mission lacks local cafés with strong espresso, relaxed outdoor seating, and sweet or savory treats. These are the best coffee shops to check out before, during, or after Carnaval — all just a short walk from the heart of the celebration.
