Bub and Grandma’s Pizza

No Name (hjc985)

The name comes from the bakery that supplies the bread for some of LA's best restaurants, and the pizza operation carries the same care for ingredients and craft into a much simpler format. A walk-up window at 5101 York, slices at five dollars each, and whole pies for pickup are the entire model, and it works completely. The crust is thin, the tomato sauce has the right amount of tartness, the mozzarella is applied generously and distributed evenly. Customers who have tried both slices and whole pies tend to recommend the whole pies as the better experience, arriving hotter and crisper.  The cannoli are made in-house and have developed a small fan club of their own. For a neighborhood pizza counter, that is exactly what you want. Open until 10pm Sunday through Thursday and 11pm on weekends, which makes it one of the most useful spots in the neighborhood for a late dinner.
